On 3 October 2025, Dr. Gustavo Covatti from Eawag gave a seminar at ETH Zurich as part of the IBP Seminar Series – Fall 2025. His talk, titled “Predicting Nitrate in Groundwater – Filling the Gaps with Machine Learning,” showcased his recent work on a data-driven approach to understanding and modeling nitrate enrichment in groundwater. This work is part of the ReCLEAN Joint Initiative

Gustavo discussed how machine learning techniques can be used to bridge gaps in groundwater monitoring networks and improve predictions of nitrate levels—key for developing sustainable agricultural and environmental management strategies.
